3D Printing Instructions
Files & Software
File format: 3MF
The 3MF files contain pre-configured supports and print pauses.
Recommended Print Settings
The files are extremely high-resolution and quite large.
The slicer may take some time to decompress and slice the model.
Choosing Your Print
Split Brain (Halves)
Two-piece print with magnet holes and a mid-print pause.
Solid Merged Brain
Single-piece print with no split or magnets.
Brain Stand
Separate display stand.
Printing the Split Brain
- 1Load the 3MF file for the left and right halves into the slicer of choice. The supports and pause points are already set up.
- 2Use a smooth PEI sheet, not a textured or satin sheet. This ensures the two halves mate together neatly along the split line. Good bed adhesion is essential because most of the model prints on supports.
- 3The magnet holes are cylindrical, 5.3 mm diameter × 3.3 mm height, and are designed for 34 magnets of size 5 × 3 mm.
- When the printer pauses, insert one magnet per hole.
- Add a small drop of super glue before inserting each magnet to prevent rattling.
- Check magnet orientation carefully. If inserted backwards, the halves will push apart instead of clicking together.
Printing the Stand & Scaled Versions
- The stand prints with no supports and requires no special configuration. Simply load the file and print.
- For a solid scaled-down model that fits in the palm of your hand, use the merged solid brain file and print at 50% scale.
